The subject 'Christian Living' is at the heart of our school's programme. It is a combination of different facets of Christian life, and involves the following and more: Morning Worship - often a Scripture reading, or devotional reading, followed by prayer, sometimes covering general topics, other times a season of prayer dedicated to a specific cause (such as specific prayers for the needs of those in our school community, eg illnessess). Study of the Bible - the topics studied vary depending on the class, and may be studied by theme (such as faith, relationships, life of Jesus etc) or by book, (such as Corrinthians, Romans, Genesis, Exodus etc). Chapel Programme - every tuesday morning there is a chapel programme in the Papanui Adventist Church (on our school site), with singing, a message from a guest speaker, and more (see the Chapel page). Church Visits - Every student has the opportunity to visit a church at least twice a year, perhaps participating in the service with music, singing, drama, puppetry etc. Some of the visits have included the Seventh-Day Adventist Churches in Papanui, Bishopdale, Rangiora, Ilam, Ashburton and others. Week of Worship - These are Highlights of the Year, with a week of speakers, great music, dramas, studies. Similar to what is often called 'Week of Prayer', but involves much more. (see Week of Worship) Baptismal studies - held by the Chaplain for those who are interested - Students cover biblical information about Baptism and Christian faith/community the student is also encouraged to belong to a church community to help strengthen their faith. Service trips for Year 12 students - an opportunity to serve those less fortunate than ourselves, and gain the blessings that such service always provides. We have chosen to focus on helping schools in the Pacific Islands, and students have been to Vanuatu, Samoa, Fiji and Rarotonga. (see the Service Trip Gallery)
