“Values are deeply held beliefs about what is important or desirable. They are expressed through the ways in which people think and act.” (The New Zealand Curriculum Ministry of Education (2007) p 10)
“God through His moral laws, has outlined standards of ethical behaviour based on his own character of love. When adopted by man, these laws develop a commitment to selfless service and a personal and loving concern for all.” (Christchurch Adventist School Charter 2009-2011, p. 4) The acquisition and application of appropriate values undergirds this process.
At CAS we have identified four overarching values that provide a foundation for the development of Godly character; respect, responsibility, integrity and excellence.
Respect – At CAS we act on the value of God’s creation.
Responsibility – At CAS we value doing what we know is right.
Integrity – At CAS we value standing up for what is right and true, even when no one is looking.
