Christchurch Adventist School is a State-Integrated School of Special Character. Our mission is to provide a holistic education that reflects the values and beliefs of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
The Proprietor (the Seventh-day Adventist Church) maintains the school’s Special Character, which serves as the foundation for our learning environment. We welcome applications from families who desire an education aligned with these values.
As a State-Integrated school, our enrolment is governed by the following legislative criteria:
Preference Enrolment: Priority is given to students whose parents or caregivers have established a connection with the Special Character of the school.
Non-Preference Enrolment: The school has a limited number of places (as defined by our Integration Agreement) for students who do not meet the preference criteria. We welcome families who, while not necessarily of the Adventist faith, choose our school because they support our ethos and values.
Special Character Commitment: By enrolling, students and their families agree to respect and participate in the Special Character of the school, including its religious education and worship program.
Note: Enrolment is a formal agreement to abide by school policies.
Application Pack: Please complete this application pack or you can come and get one from the school office.
Submission: Return completed forms to the School Office along with the student’s most recent school reports and required identification (Birth Certificate/Passport).
Interview: Once documentation is received, an appointment will be scheduled for an interview with the Principal and relevant Head of School to discuss the student’s needs and our school’s expectations.
Notification: Families will be advised of the outcome of their application in writing or via telephone.
Stationery Lists: Available online through Office Max or from the School Office.
Preparation: All stationery must be purchased, named, and ready for use on the first day of school.
Secondary Students: Textbooks and lockers will be issued to all secondary students on their first day of classes.
This re-write ensures the language aligns with the Education and Training Act 2020, clarifies the distinction between compulsory dues and voluntary donations, and emphasizes the Seventh-day Adventist Special Character of the school.
At Christchurch Adventist School (CAS), our mission is to provide a Christ-centered environment where faith and learning are integrated. The financial support from our families allows us to maintain our unique Seventh-day Adventist character and provide high-quality facilities for our students.
Attendance Dues are a compulsory payment required under the Education and Training Act 2020 for all students attending a State Integrated school. These fees are collected by the school on behalf of the NZ SDA Schools Association (The Proprietor) and are used for capital expenditure on school land and buildings.
Payment: Arrangements are made upon registration. Dues may be paid monthly, per term, or annually.
Terms: As these are a condition of enrolment, students may be asked to leave the school if Attendance Dues are not kept up to date.
The Special Character Donation is vital for sustaining the unique identity of CAS. These funds directly support our Bible Curriculum, chaplaincy services, and the integration of faith into all areas of school life.
While this is a voluntary donation, it is greatly appreciated as it provides the resources necessary to maintain our Adventist values.
Tax Benefit: Donations are 33% tax-deductible. A donation of $100 per year allows you to claim back approximately $33 from the IRD.
CAS has opted into the Government’s School Donation Scheme. This means we do not ask for general activity donations. However, the school may still request payment for:
Camps and overnight trips: (Voluntary participation).
Extra-curricular activities: Such as ski trips, sports teams, or private music tuition.
Goods and Services: Items you choose to purchase from the school (e.g., uniforms, stationery, or take-home components from Technology projects).
All Attendance Dues and Special Character Donations are payable to Christchurch Adventist School
