Sport at CAS

About Sport at CAS

CAS is a member of  School Sport Canterbury, an educational organisation that promotes and organises a wide range of school sporting events at Provincial, regional, South Island and National levels. School Sport Canterbury currently has 60 member schools stretching from the West Coast to Christchurch.

This partnership with School Sport Canterbury ensures that our rangatahi have the best opportunities for participation, enjoyment, competition and regular physical activity in the sport of their choice.

At CAS we deliver an integrated approach to sports, where all sports classes are conducted by trained physical education specialists. Our PDHPE program focuses not only on the traditional development of sporting processes and skills but facilitates student learning in elite athlete performance, the psychology of sport and managing personal choices relating to a healthy lifestyle.

In Term 1 our rangatahi have the opportunity to participate in our School Swimming, Athletics and Cross Country Carnivals. In addition to this for those rangatahi who qualify for the opportunity to compete at the Canterbury Swimming, Athletics and Cross Country Championships and beyond.

Further, throughout the year students have the opportunity to participate in the School Sport Canterbury weekly sports competition. In this competition, students compete with other members schools across Canterbury.
